FAQ
How often should I change my filter?
During the summertime, your air conditioning is running a lot more then other months. Therefore, during this time you should change your filter, at least, once a month to keep it running properly. This includes pleated filters that claim to be 3 month filters. For other months of the year, use your best judgment.
What is the best temperature to set my thermostat?
The best temperature to keep your thermostat on would be somewhere between 78 and 80 degrees. During the summer, try to keep your thermostat as high as you can, while maintaining a reasonable comfort level. The SRP says it’s possible to add 3% to your electric bill for every degree that you set your thermostat below 80 degrees.
What are the best filters to use?
Hicks Heating & Air Conditioning recommends you use pleated media filters. The pleats create a larger filtration surface area. You can find these filters at any home improvement or hardware store.
How often should I add Freon to my air conditioner?
Freon should only be added if there is a leak in your air conditioner system. If you are adding it on a regular basis, that is a sign of a problem. If you are concerned, call us to evaluate your system.
How often should I have my unit serviced?
We believe every air conditioning system should be serviced, at least, twice a year. We recommend servicing it once in the spring time and once in the fall.
